At Wilkinson's we have some excellent finance deals that may help you afford the unit you want.
Example: You have £5,000 saved up for a mobile catering unit but the unit you are interested in costs £15,000. Our finance packages are normally based on 2,3 or 4 years. As a rule of the thumb a £15,000 unit with a £5,000 deposit would cost you over 3 years approximately £90 per week. For more details please call us on 01254 706348.

What are the difference between zintec and stainless units? PDF Print E-mail

The Finish: A zintec trailer is made from zinc coated steel and is then painted in a colour of the customer's choice. Whilst the zintec trailers are attractive, the circle polished stainless steel trailer has an even better finish giving a professional edge in terms of design and image.

Lifespan: Zintec trailers have a life of approximately 10 years but a stainless steel one should double that life at least if not more. Stainless steel units are easier to keep clean and to maintain and will continue to look like new if they are well looked after. If you look after your Wilkinson catering unit it will look after you.

Wilkinson offers a very fair part exchange scheme in which you will receive an excellent price for your existing unit when you decide to part-exchange. Usually the rule of thumb is about 80% units that were purchased originally without VAT and 80% net of VAT On units purchased with VAT in the first 12 months and approximately 70% in both cases at the end of year 2.

How do I get on to my local events? PDF Print E-mail

A good way to start is by obtaining an events guide-book, which lists the vast majority of the shows that take place in any one year. They normally give approximate attendance figures plus contract numbers to arrange pitching on the event. Be mindful of the attendance figures given.

An event with 20,000 people attending may have 12 catering units and cost £500 to trade, after which you may still make a reasonable profit. Much more favorable would be an event with 20,000 people where you are the sole caterer, giving you a much higher attendance to caterer ratio. Once you are on these single caterer events, provided you cater better quality food and are cooperative. You will normally be invited to attend the event following time. You can also check with your local council if there are any events in your area in the coming year.

If you are trading on public land you will in most cases require a food-trading license.
You can obtain one of these by contacting your local council. You will also require an environmental health certificate, which can normally be obtained from your local council, following an inspection of your trailer. You will also need a Basic Food Hygiene Certificate which can be completed at a local college or even online.
